Talent Selection & Retention
Julie set up and managed the UKIRE Talent Acquisition function as part of the move to a shared services HR organisation at a Global US Healthcare company.
Starting from scratch, Julie worked with the business and the US HR project team to scope out the new business function including its service level agreements and objectives (cost saving, in-house experts and talent brand strategy). Over the course of six years the function grew from 8 members of the team and 500 recruitment vacancies a year, to a team of 23 with 1700 vacancies a year, saving the organisation over £1 million a year on recruitment costs. Julie managed the output of the function, budget and P&L , and the team line management and development. During this time, the team launched the Graduate programmes, investing in an ‘Early Talent’ approach across UKIRE hiring over 100 interns and Graduates a year. Continuously looking for better ways of working, Julie also enjoyed successfully transitioned the team from 90% agency reliance to just 8%, set up an award winning Employee referral programme and lead the introduction of Shared services to the rest of EMEA.
At the same company, Julie set up the ‘Trainee sales’ recruitment hiring Graduates into the medical devices field through a progressive bespoke selection and onboarding process, which was designed by Julie in conjunction with the business. Julie still enjoys seeing these hires progress within their careers.

Organisation Restructuring
Julie has worked on extensive restructuring initiatives, including the re modelling of the main four regional sales teams for a top five Pharmaceutical company resulting in over 100 redundancies.
Having built the selection criteria, communications and end to end process, Julie also managed the 1:1 consultation process nationally.
Julie prides herself on being able to deliver a process that also remains ‘personal’ to the employee involved.
More recently, Julie managed the restructure of a medium-sized organisation (200 employees) based in three countries: UK, Germany and the USA. This was all turned around in three weeks resulting in office closures, individual redundancies in each location and the utilisation of the new UK Government Job retention scheme – ‘furloughing’ for over 20 UK employees.
Having worked with Julie at Sanofi-Aventis for 5 years we worked together on 5 restructures and many inherited issues. Performance Management & Bespoke HR Solutions
Julie has been involved in the build of performance management systems throughout her career. However, her passion is managing the ongoing development and careers of employees with potential, within the performance management cycle – preparing, presenting and designing succession planning documents. Whilst being the HR generalist support for 150 employees at a UK medical devices company, Julie prepared a quarterly review on succession and critical role planning across multiple levels of staff – feeding into the global succession planning and mobility of key talent.
Julie also has extensive experience of managing performance and other employee relations cases, including working on Tribunal cases within a variety of industries. Her approach is always to coach Line Managers on how to deal informally with employee grievances and issues and to follow recommended and proven processes to get the best results for all. Cases range from managing performance improvement plans through to misconduct.
Julie is an ideal business partner, providing expert insight and sound advice, grounded in her extensive experience. Julie is always upbeat in her approach and brings enthusiasm and drive to development projects leading to successful outcomes. I would be delighted to work with Julie again in the future. JB
